Pike's spawn is in spring, whereby it spawns unfrozen shallow water and also under the ice. Pike's spawn places are low coves, grasses, reeds and among water lilies. Pike's spawn last about 1-2 weeks. After spawning in the spawn places you can catch really big pikes. After spawning pikes are very hungry and strike greedily almost every kind of lure. When water begins to warm, so smaller pikes remain near their spawn places, and bigger pikes go to deep places. Pike hunt lurking and rushing from below catch its haul, because pike trust that haul can't see it in darkness. When pike has observed a haul it begins to swim quietly to haul. When pike has swum to distance where it can strike, so it strikes from the side to a haul as lightning quickly with on explosive power. Pike turns its mouth a haul and eats usually a haul head first.

As a predator pike also tries to choose a haul among weak or bad condition. Remember this when you use your lures. If you succeed to throw your lure to the front of pike, so it probably as hungry strikes.
