Mockers distorts the truth of the Bible

 

 

People who don't believe in God distort and understand in a wrong way the word of God (Bible).  However, the Bible is truly the word of God, and its teachings are useful in every phase of God's salvation history. In this writing, I bring forth few distorts of mockers.

You shall not allow a garment mixed of linen and wool to come upon you

Some mockers say that you can only use clothes made by one material and not two. They insinuate scornfully that you can't use modern clothes because they have made by many materials. The Bible doesn't say it, but that don't use clothes mixed of linen and wool.

 Lev 19: 19 ¶ Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.

Linen and wool are very different kinds of materials. Linen is not flexible at all, but wool is flexibility. Clothes that had been made from linen, and wool caused problems during the era of Old Testament. It is not wise to mix two different kind of materials who works totally conversely. In the time of Old Testament, for example, washing of clothes made by linen and wool would be very difficult, because rubbing of wool by the water felts the wool.

The prohibition and reasons for it

Throughout the ages, some people are tried to find out the reasons why God forbade the clothes, which are made from linen and wool. The Bible doesn't give an answer that why the clothes mixing linen and wool can't be done.

Some people think that this command had given because two different kinds of things do not fit together with each other.

One theory is the case of Cain and Abel. Cain brought the fruit from the ground as an offering to the Lord. Possibly, his offering also contained linen, which is a fiber and oil plant. Cain killed Abel who brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat thereof as an offering to the Lord.  According to this theory, God doesn't want to mix the linen and wool, because Cain killed his brother, and they departed from each other, and therefore the linen and wool must not mix together.

Perhaps we can't know for sure the reasons why God gave this command. Although we can't know it, so we can trust in God that behind the command is very clear reason why the linen and wool cannot mix.

Electricity of the body

Charles Whitlaw in his book: The Scriptural Code of Health with observations of the Mosaic Prohibitions, has said that some observations and researches have proven that wool with mixed with linen increases its power of passing off the electricity from the body. Especially, in hot climates, it can cause malignant fevers and exhausts the strength; and when passing off from the body, it meets with the heated air, inflames and excoriates like a blister. In the worst cases, it can lead to dehydration and death.

When the electric removes from the body in warm and hot climates, so it can lead weakening and fever can rise and cause inflammations.

Nervous system, circulation, heart and brains work electromagnetically. If the electric removes from the body so it weakens functions of nervous system, circulation, heart and brains.

If this research is true, so we know the reason why you can't mix the linen with wool. The nation of Israel lived in very hot climate, so the command would have been reasonable.

However, is good to know that Lev 19:19 is the command, which God gave to Israelites in the era of the Old Covenant, and this command is not valid anymore in the era of the New Covenant.

Use white clothes

Some mockers of the Bible say that you should always use white clothes.  

Ec 9:8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.

There is in the Bible also symbolical teaching and Ec 9:8 is a symbolic teaching. Let thy garments be always white mean that our life should be accordance with the word of God. Clothes describe symbolically the life of man, which is accordance with the word of God. In the Bible, the light and white means holy life.

Isa 2:5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

Men's and women's clothing

Many mockers of the Bible say that men and women wore similar clothes in the time the Old Testament and so command in De 22:5 is the contradiction.

De 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

In the time of the Bible men and women had a very same kind of clothes, which, However, was different. Women's tunics were more detail, decorative and longer as men's tunics. Women had usually also head scarf. In the time of the Bible men's and women's clothing was so different that you could separate from the clothes that were into question man or woman.

Don't cut your hair or beard

Many mockers of the Bible say that you can't cut your hair or beard, because your Bible denies it.

Lev 19:27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

Hebrew Bible original text speaks about cutting of whiskers and sideburns, not cutting of beard.  Some Gentile idol worshipers cut their sideburns and hairs in a certain way as honor of their idols. In the time of Old Testament God gave commands to Israelites, that they cannot imitate and mimic habits of the Gentiles, who worshiped idols. God gave the command that they cannot do similar hair and sideburns cuttings as idol worshipers. The Bible doesn't deny hair and beard cutting.

They don't understand changing of the law

People who oppose and mock the Bible says very often, because you believe the Bible, take slaves and stone the sinners, because the Bible says so.

The Bible teaches that the change of the law placed in the power by the Lord Jesus.  The Lord Jesus did not destroyed God's law. The Lord Jesus and order of the New Covenant canceled animal offerings, commands of temple service and all commands that don't agree with the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are still in the power in the era of the New Covenant.

In the New Covenant isn't in the power a command of death sentence. New Covenant congregation cannot judge or condemn anyone to death. Stoning is not in the power in the time of the New Covenant. Old Testament's "slave" wasn't the slaves, but servants and Israelites had to treat them well.

In the era of the New Covenant majority of the commands of the Old covenant is not in the power. Ideas of mockers are pointless and foolish. It is as foolish as if someone would demand that people must punish in public place by stocks or pillory. Here in Finland, stocks and pillory penalties had been annulled in 1894.

All the commands of the New Testament have been placed in a certain phase of history, but by Jesus' atonement is placed the New Covenant and the new order how to believe in God. You can't go back to order of the Old Covenant, because it is not anymore in the power. In the same way stocks and pillory penalties are not anymore in the power, and it is very foolish and absurd demand to punish people by stocks and pillory. As foolish is to demand to obey those commands of the Old Covenant that is not anymore in the power.

Evil seed of the religion

Many people who are mocking the Bible suppose that believing in the Lord Jesus is the religion.  The Old and New Testament teaches how we should believe in God. The Bible doesn't teach the religion, but faith and how to believe in God. Faith and believe in God by the Lord Jesus is a totally different thing than the religion. 

In Greek original text is the word threskeia, which means worshiping. Threskeia derives its meaning from the word threskos, which means fearing or worshiping God. Some dictionaries give to the word threskeia the meaning religion, which the word doesn't mean. The Greek ancient writers used threskeia to describe worshiping of divine deity by ceremonies. New Testament uses threskeia in four places:

Ac 26:5 Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion <threskeia > I lived a Pharisee.

Col 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping <threskeia > of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

Jas 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion <threskeia > is vain.

Jas 1:27 Pure religion <threskeia > and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Greek word threskeia should have been translated worshiping, which is the meaning of it.

Ga 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion <Ioudaismos>, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

Ga 1:14 And profited in the Jews’ religion <Ioudaismos> above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

The Greek word Ioudaismos means Judaism, faith and worshiping of the Jews.

The bible doesn't teach that believing in God by the Lord Jesus is the religion, but it is the faith and worshiping of God by the Lord Jesus. Faith and believe in the Lord Jesus, and the religion are totally two different things. They are like the day and the night and wrong and right.

The religion is the kind of where a man tries by his own earnings, and deeds save himself and become a better person. The religion is, in fact, an invention of satan by which he deceives the people. The religion attains in the people thoughts and deeds, which have resulted to killings of the people. The history of religions proofs this. Religion leads people to a condition where they think they are on the way that leads to enlightenment, or a better awareness and spiritual growth. In reality, religion leads people to eternal damnation, not to God. Religion is an evil thing, which corrupt and defiles the man to rebel against the true God.

Believing to God of the Bible is a such kind of where God saves the man by the Lord Jesus. Believing in God by the Lord Jesus, God helps the man to change to live according to the will of God. You don't need to struggle by your own power to earn salvation, change yourself or save yourself, because God saves you and changes you by the power of the Holy Spirit. A true and genuine faith in the Lord Jesus makes a man become a man who loves God, his neighbors and lives in truth and love of God. The real faith in the Lord Jesus makes a man forsake sins and all unrighteousness. The real faith in the Lord Jesus leads people to the eternal life.

The Bible is the word of God

Many people who mock the message of the Bible say that God hasn't written the Bible, but the people.  These mockers say that the Bible is the book of the men, not the book of God.

The Bible is written over thousand years by the many Jewish people. The Bible is the word of God, whereby, He has spoken and influenced writing to the Bible and thus brought forth His will and the salvation in each phase of the history.

The Bible says that the prophecy (the word of God) was not at any time borne by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, as they were guided by the Holy Spirit. People have written the Bible, but they have written it by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

I bring forth an illustrative example, which enlighten this matter. In the workplace, firm leader dictates the text to the secretary, who is writing it up. We can say that the secretary has written the text, but he wrote it just the way the director said this to her. The secretary did not make an interpretation and not brought forth her thoughts, but just what the director told her. The Bible is born exactly the same way. People have therefore written the Bible, but they have done it by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. So the Bible is, after all, the word of God.

The Bible describes phases of the nation of Israel because God chose one very small nation by which He revealed Himself to the mankind. The Bible describes also life of individual men and their relationship with God. The Bible tells also about feelings and thoughts, including the joys, sorrows, failures, successful choices of these people. But, however, all these different situations are reflected in God and God's will. The Bible reveals God's word to the mankind, because the Bible is the Word of God. God saves sinful man by the Lord Jesus after repentance and believing in Jesus. God teaches by His Word the basic values of the life, according to which man is good to live. God reveals by His Word future events. God reveals in His word the way the fountain of eternal life.  Overall, the center of the Bible is God and the salvation of the Lord Jesus, the Messiah.
