Nathanael meet Jesus
Nathanael
was a Jew and had absorbed in the milk of the mother the life styles of the
nation of Israel and he was in faith to God of Abraham, Isaac and Jakob.
Writing
of old testament speaks about liberator of the nation of Israel in other
words from the Messiah, who is coming to liberate the nation of Israel from
its sins and to lead to the nation of Israel to kingdom of God.
To
this Nathanael waited the Messiah, this come out when Philip went to tell to
Nathanael, that they have found the Messiah. I’m sure that Nathanael waited
very eagerly coming of the Messiah.
Jesus
Christ saw direct to the heart of Nathanael, so that he waited the Messiah,
King Jesus Christ. There was so Messiah expectation in the life of Nathanael,
which also certainly influenced in him, that he respected the word of God.
Yearning of the Messiah
That
yearning of the Messiah was a reason why Jesus said to Nathanael: Behold,
truly an Israelite in whom is no guile! He who really waits Jesus Christ
is acceptable to Jesus. Man is a sinner and so also Nathanael was sinner
person, but yearning of the Messiah and facing of Jesus Christ and following
of Lord Jesus brings to our life purification through crucifixion and
resurrection of Jesus Christ. By way of crucifixion, God sees everybody who
believes to Jesus as clean as white wool, although our wandering is
imperfect.
When
Jesus saw and said: “Behold, truly an Israelite in whom is no guile!"
So Nathanael knew in his heart, that now happens something very special.
Nathanael sure thought; this man has never seen me and he knows me. Nathanael
asked from Jesus: “From where do You know me?” Jesus answered to him: Before
Philip called, you being under the fig tree, I saw you..” Jesus sees
already afar our heart and he saw Nathanael’s heart and that yearning of
the Messiah, which was in the heart of Nathanael.
Nathanael
answered and said to the Lord Jesus: “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You
are the King of Israel.”
Nathanael
yearned the Messiah and searched and waited the King Messiah and now the
Messiah of Israel came to Nathanael and exposed Natanael’s heart where was
that yearning of the Messiah, and after that Nathanael recognized that Jesus
is his Messiah and his King.
Jesus
answered and said to him: “Because I said to you I saw you under the fig
tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”
Nathanael
waited and searched Jesus and because of that Jesus called that Nathanael would
follow Him.
What was
important was it that Nathanael waited the Messiah Jesus. Jesus has come to
search missing sheep to take them with Him to His sheep-fold. Natanael’s
yearning of the Messiah gets fulfilment when he faced Jesus.
When
Nathanael saw Jesus and hears the words of Jesus: “Because I said to you I
saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than
these.” So after that Nathanael believed to Jesus. When man hears and
sees in his heart Jesus, so after that man can believe to Jesus by such way,
which leads him to follow Jesus through love and truth. Nathanael believed to
Jesus that Jesus is Son of God and the King of Israel. This faith opened to
him fellowship with Jesus. Nathanael came to faith to Jesus when he faced
Jesus. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. That what was
important: Jesus came to Nathanael in other words Jesus come to sinner and
calls him to His kingdom. Nathanael did not find Jesus, but Jesus found
Nathanael and came to him. Amen!!! Like this Jesus as the good shepherd
searches missing sheep and find them and take them in a shelter where He love
and feed them.
For
everyone asking receives, and the one seeking finds, and to the one knocking,
it will be opened.
Do
you wait Jesus the Messiah? If you wait Jesus and give him to be your King to
whom you serve, so He will lead you to the green and eternal pastures, where
you can get refreshed heavenly nourishment and there you can get rest in Him.
If Jesus is our Lord and King, so to us will happen very well in Jesus lovely
and safety care.
